If you facing any QuickBooks issues related to data recovery, call us @ ☎ 1-800-515-3107 & know how to recover damaged, deleted & lost QuickBooks files using ADR file recovery sets.
Data may become corrupted and you can lose data when working in QuickBooks. The package has an Auto Data Recovery module to help you out in such cases. It exists in QuickBooks since version 2012 and it is available only in Pro, Premier and Enterprise Solutions. ADR is a better way to do it on your own instead of calling in Intuit. However, keep in mind that ADR works only if file size is 1.5 GB or less.
How ADR Helps
ADR can help recover a lost file by accessing transaction log file and a copy of the company file.
ADR restores almost everything except for the last few transactions using company file and transaction log file.
Approach #1 Recover Recent Transactions
You try this method to recover all recent transactions by using transaction log file and ADR version of company file:
- Create a folder QBTest on your windows desktop.
- Now run windows explorer and navigate to folder where company file resides. You can also run QuickBooks and click on product information and click on No company open window and look for the .tlg file. It will have same name as the company file. If file extension does not show then run windows explorer, click on tools and then on folder options and click on view tab and in the list uncheck Hide extensions for known file types, click on apply and then OK.
- Copy the .tlg file and paste it into the Qbtest folder on the desktop.
- Next, open QuickBooks and then the QuickBooksAutoDataRecovery folder which should be in the same location as the company file. Copy .qbw.adr file and paste it to the QBTest folder.
- Open this folder and pick file with .qbw.adr extension and select rename and delete .adr from extension.
- Run QuickBooks, navigate to QBTest folder and open the .qbw file. Verify transactions in the file.
- You can go a step further and run file-utilities-verify data.
- If file is OK, go back to QuickBooks and the location where .qbw file resides, rename it and move it to another location and then copy file from QBTest folder to the QuickBooks folder.
Approach #2
Use this to recover all transactions. It will recover all but last 12 hours of transactions that have to be manually entered.
- Create a new folder on windows desktop.
- Run QuickBooks and navigate to location where you will find QuickBooksAutoDataRecovery folder. Do this by pressing F2 or Control+1 and then No company open window.
- Find files with extensions .tlg and .qbw.adrr and copy them to folder on desktop.
- Rename .qbw.adr file by removing .adr extension.
- Run QuickBooks and navigate to folder on desktop and open company file.
- Run file utilities to verify data and if file is OK move company file from the QuickBooks folder to another location and copy file from folder on desktop to QuickBooks folder.
