Causes Behind QuickBooks Error Code 6010
- Your anti-virus software may be interfering.
- The .ND (network device) file becomes disconnected from the .qbw or .tlg file.
Try any of the following approaches to resolve QuickBooks error 6010 issue
Approach 1
- Navigate to the folder that contains the company file.
- Find files that have the same name but with extensions.ND and.TLG.
- Right click on each and rename them by adding old at the end of the file name, after the extension and open QuickBooks and try to open the company file.
Approach 2
- Go to the No Company Open window and click on open a sample file and choose anyone. If it opens then it means the company file could be damaged or QuickBooks installation is corrupted.
- Select the company file from the folder where it resides and it should have .qbw extension. Right click, copy and then go to desktop and click paste.
- Run QuickBooks and go to the No Company Open window and click on open or restore existing company and then go to desktop and select the copied file and open.
Approach 3
- Run QuickBooks, open company file and from File menu click on Utilities.
- If you see stop hosting multi-user access the select it and in this window click, Yes and in The Company File Must be Closed window click on Yes.
- Count characters of the path to your company file by navigating to the location and selecting the path from the address bar and pasting it into notepad to count the number of characters. It should not be longer than 210 characters and there should be no spaces.
- If this solution does not work then you may run QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery.
The above is for locally stored files. For networked files try the following:
Approach 1
- The company file should be hosted on the Server.
- Navigate to the folder that contains company file and finds.ND and.TLG files that have the same name as the company file with extension .qbw
- Rick click on each and rename them by adding Old after the extension.
- Restart the QuickBooks database server manager and scan the company file again and then try to open the company file.
- If this does not work check whether company file is not corrupted by the following process in approach 2 above for locally hosted files.
Approach 2
- If the file resides in the server and does not open then navigate to that folder where it is held, copy it and paste it locally to the workstation’s desktop.
- Hold down the control key and open QuickBooks and go to No company open window and click on open or restore existing company and pick the pasted file on your desktop.
- If this still does not work close all QuickBooks processes in task manager by closing QBW32.exe, qbupdate.exe, and QBDBMgr.exe.
- Also, check that user has permission to access folder and company files.
