As per Intuit’s knowledgebase – QuickBooks error code H505 is common when you have multi-users or use the software from multiple devices. This error code means that the company file that you are trying to access is not saved in this computer but on a different device/ moreover because of not saving the file on the local computer, accessing it from the other device is also not possible due to nonavailability of access to the server.

First and foremost you need to check if your system has all the additional requirements to be able to connect and share the files. You also need to confirm if your computer is upgraded to the latest version of both QuickBooks and Windows.
Sometimes an upgrade can affect the source files of certain applications. A corrupt or damaged file can lead to this Error. In fact, there can be a couple of other problems like the firewall that blocks communication in or out, QuickBooks unable to access the IP address of the host system etc.
The problem needs to be resolved quickly. You can try running the Diagnostic application which will repair any of the corrupt files. It will also reset the settings of the software making it easier to access files and the software.
